Braden Chiaramonte 12th in Tulare, CA

PETERSEN MEDIA: Braden Chiaramonte got right back to work with the NARC series over the weekend as he was back in action in Tulare, CA. Rebounding from a tough qualifying session, Chiaramonte battled back to finish 12th in the feature event.

“Saturday night, we got to a really bad start and didn’t time in well at all,” Braden Chiaramonte said. “I don’t think I charged turn one hard enough on either lap and that set us back pretty far.”

With 22 cars on hand for the series’ third visit to the central valley facility, Chiaramonte timed in 20th fastest and found himself at the back of his heat race.

Lining up seventh in heat race action on the very slick Thunderbowl Raceway surface, Chiaramonte was able to make some moves as he worked his way forward into the fifth spot. Finishing fifth, Chiaramonte did improve his feature event starting position a few spots as he rolled off the starting grid from 14th.

Following a little track work prior to the feature event, the early laps saw much of the field use the high side of the speedway with everyone’s right rear right up on the famed Thunderbowl Raceway fence.

With much of the field utilizing the same line, passing proved to be tricky but the El Cajon, CA driver was able to pick up a couple of positions as laps clicked away.

Getting into 12th, the track then started to take rubber in a few spots which then saw the field start to search around the track to find it. Briefly getting into 11th, Chiaramonte finally settled into 12th as the rubber became prevalent and passing went dormant.

When the checkered flag flew, the 19-year-old capped the night off with a 12th place finish.

“We raced pretty well in our heat, and then I really liked how our car was in the feature we just really couldn’t get going with it being so top dominant early,” Chiaramonte added.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts- 13, Wins- 1, Top 5’s- 3, Top 10’s- 5

ON TAP: Chiaramonte will be idle this weekend before he returns to action with NARC on 5/29 in Watsonville, CA and then on 5/30 he heads to Kern County with USCS.
