Landon Brooks 10th at Silver Dollar Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA: After a week away from racing following the Fastest 5 Days through the Northwest and the Super Dirt Cup, Landon Brooks and Hamilton Racing were in action last Wednesday night at Silver Dollar Speedway where Brooks picked up a 10th place finish.

“Our qualifying issues continue, but fortunately we race really well and can dig out of that early hole which is what we did again on Wednesday night,” Landon Brooks said. “My guys always work so hard and despite our slow start I know we will be good at the end of the night.”

With 24 cars checked into Silver Dollar Speedway, Brooks timed in 13th fastest in time trials, which put the Lippert Construction/Tiner Hirst Enterprise/Mozingo Construction backed No. 21L entry in the third row of his heat race.

Finishing sixth in his heat, the Rio Oso, CA driver was forced into the “B”, in which he got off to a very good start and opened up a sizeable lead over the field. A late restart saw Brooks ultimately give up the top spot, but his second-place finish was enough to put him into the feature where he lined up in the 17th starting position.

“In the ‘B’, I felt really good and we were really happy with how the car was and how it reacted,” Brooks said. “I didn’t quite get the engine cleared out enough before the restart and we didn’t fire off how I needed to, but it was the difference between starting 16th or 17th.”

Moving into the feature event, Brooks was one of the few who was able to get moving forward on the reworked surface. With limited stoppages over the course of the 30-lapper, Brooks was on the move early as he was into 11th by the seventh lap, and then cracked the Top-10 on the 17th marker.

The track stayed fast around the bottom for the duration of the race which made grabbing positions inside the Top-10 difficult. Continuing to hold solid in the final laps, Brooks closed the night out with his 14th Top-10 of the season.

“I am so thankful that the Hamilton family continues to support this race team, and I am thankful that Kyle, Steven, and Tanner always work so hard and make good calls and changes night in and night out,” Brooks said.
