PETERSEN MEDIA: Andy Forsberg and the PHR Racing team celebrated the USA’s 250^th Birthday by racing on two occasions. Picking up a fourth-place finish last Wednesday night in Chico, CA, Forsberg backed it up with a second-place finish at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night.

“It is always a lot of fun racing during the 4^th of July, because the crowds get so full with people excited for racing and of course all the fireworks,” Andy Forsberg said. “We had good cars both nights and came away with two good finishes.”

Kicking the week off last Wednesday night in Chico, CA, Forsberg timed the PHR/Wilkie Masonry/Western Traffic Supply backed No. 92 entry in second fastest in qualifying time trials and set the rest of his night up well.

Starting and finishing fourth in his heat race, Forsberg was safely in the feature event as well as in the nightly redraw where his oldest grandson pulled the two pill for him.

Lining up on the outside of the front row for the 30-lapper, Forsberg settled into second as he chased after early leader Dominic Gorden. Continuing to give chase, a restart on the 10^th lap saw Forsberg fall back to third as Justin Sanders was the man on the move within the leaders.

Continuing to run in third in dense lapped traffic, Forsberg held the final spot on the podium until the 23^rd lap when DJ Netto picked him off. Falling to fourth, Forsberg held the spot for the final six laps to score a fourth-place finish.

Traveling to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night, Forsberg went out dead last for qualifying time trials and found some moisture to earn the fourth quickest lap of the flight.

Again, finishing fourth in his heat race, Forsberg moved into the redraw where the three put him in the second row of the 30-lap feature event.

A very slick surface saw the grizzled veteran settle into third where he spent nearly the entirety of the opening half of the race. On the 13^th lap, the Auburn, CA driver was able to move into second where he turned his attention to race leader, Austin Wood.

Closing in on Wood, Forsberg would get a little tight on the cushion and give up some valuable track position. With time winding down, Forsberg was back on Wood’s bumper. In dense traffic, Wood was able to keep Forsberg at bay as he closed the weekend out with a second-place finish.

“The track was super slick in Placerville all night long, and after some track prep before the feature we were able to keep it from taking rubber,” Forsberg said. “We had a couple chances to try and make something happen late in the race but just weren’t quite able to get to Austin Wood.”
