Five-In-A-Row for Albright
PETERSEN MEDIA- Making his way south to the Ventura Raceway to take part in the California Lightning Sprints CA Clash event, Dakota Albright stayed hot as he picked up his fifth consecutive feature event win.
“Saturday night was another really good night for our team,” Dakota Albright said. “We unloaded pretty good, and really just had to make subtle changes all night.”
Timing the Thompson’s Family of Dealerships/Matos Accountancy/Greenwood Machine and Fab backed No. 35JR in sixth fastest in qualifying time trials, the Waterford, CA driver just made a couple of small adjustments before rolling out for his heat race.
Taking the green flag in the third starting position, Albright worked his way into the race lead on the second lap and continued to adapt to the changes at the track since his last appearance earlier this season.
Scoring the win, Albright moved into the feature event where he lined up on the pole and then led the field to green. The initial start of the race nearly spelled disaster for Albright as he and his fellow front-row starter made contact heading into the first corner and resulted in issues behind them.
Once the field was restacked, Albright nailed the second start and began clicking off strong laps around the scenic Ventura Raceway. Getting into traffic, Albright saw a caution quickly fly and take him out of a bit of chaos and it gave him clear track.
The final five laps saw him hit his marks and power to his fifth consecutive win.
“Ventura is really a tough track to make consistent laps, so I really focused on hitting my marks the best I could,” Albright added. “I had a close call in traffic and about gave the lead away, but the caution fell at the right time, and we were able to open the lead back up on the restart.”
