Landon Brooks 9th at Trophy Cup Tune Up
PETERSEN MEDIA: Getting one final race in at the Thunderbowl in Tulare, CA on Saturday night before the upcoming Trophy Cup, Landon Brooks and the Hamilton Racing with Tiner Hirst Ent. team picked up a ninth-place finish with NARC.
“Saturday night we raced really well despite the track being heavy and fast for much of the night,” Landon Brooks said. “Qualifying still is our Achilles’ heel, but fortunately we are able to rebound during racing action and grabbed another Top-10.”
Timing the Lippert Construction/Tiner Hirst Ent./Mozingo Construction backed No. 21L in 19th fastest in time trials, the Rio Oso, CA driver lined up seventh in his heat race. Getting a good start when the green flag was displayed, Brooks jumped into sixth right away, and then was able to move into fifth.
Settling into the fifth spot, Brooks went on to finish there which placed him 13th on the starting grid for the 30-lap feature event. With the track getting a bit of work before the feature, Brooks and company were set from the inside of the seventh row.
When the green flag dropped Brooks worked into 11th on the second lap and began turning in solid laps on a very fast Thunderbowl Raceway surface. As the race clicked off quick laps, Brooks was able to make some moves as the halfway point neared.
Moving into ninth on the 15th lap, Brooks found himself in a multi car battle for position inside the Top-10. Slipping back to 10th amidst the action, Brooks was back up into eighth on the 22nd lap.
Jumping into seventh on the 25th lap, Brooks had a slight misstep that cost him a couple of positions as he slipped back to ninth which is where he went on to finish.
“The race track was really fast and tough to pass on all night, so I am really happy we were able to make some moves and pass cars,” Brooks added. “I feel good about our car in Tulare, CA and am looking forward to Trophy Cup in a few weeks. I really want to thank the Hamiltons for continuing to support our team, all of the great sponsors behind us, and the Tiner Hirst Enterprise guys for working so hard on our car.”
