PETERSEN MEDIA: Back in the seat of his family car on Saturday night, Braden Chiaramonte and his team headed to the Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, CA to battle with the NARC Series.

“I felt good to start the night, but then I felt like something in our engine was off for our heat,” Braden Chiarmonte said. “We battled through that, and in the feature, we got hit on the first lap and had to go to work area to get a new left rear.”

Taking on NARC Saturday night in Tulare, CA the El Cajon, CA driver kicked the night off by getting timed in 15^thfastest in time trials. Lining up fifth in his heat race, Chiarmonte felt something off under the hood of his car as the green flag flew.

With the track being extremely fast, Chiaramonte dropped a couple of spots early as he dealt with gremlins under the hood. Finishing seventh, the team went to work prior to the feature event to figure out their issues.

Not quite getting the full issue diagnosed, Chiaramonte made the call for the 30-lap feature event where he took the green from the 21^st starting position.

As the field came to green, Chiaramonte endured hard contact to the left rear corner of his car which resulted in a flat left rear tire. Limping to the work area, Chiaramonte’s team was able to make repairs and get him back on track just before the green was displayed back to the field.

From the back of the pack, Chiaramonte wasn’t able to do much as the track was extremely fast and passing was nearly nonexistent much of the night.

Getting up to 19^th on a couple of restarts, the 19-year-old ultimately settled for a 20^th place finish when the race came to a close.

“We ended up figuring out that the timing jumped on our engine when we got back to the shop on Sunday, so that played a big role in us just being off,” Chiaramonte said. “Hopefully with some bad luck behind us, we can have a solid night this week at Placerville Speedway.”
