Ryan Bernal Picks Up Two Podiums with Josh Ford Motorsports

PETERSEN MEDIA: Getting back in the seat of the Jimmy May prepared JFM Inc No. 73 machine over the weekend in Placerville, CA, Ryan Bernal had an extremely strong weekend that saw him come so close to a Saturday night feature event win after running third on Friday night.

“Saturday night was definitely bittersweet to lose a race in the last corner like that,” Ryan Bernal said. “Overall though, it was a great weekend for the NOS Energy Drink/Inland Rigging/MPe team.”

Kicking the two night show off on Friday night, Bernal timed in sixth fastest in time trials before racing to a second place finish in his heat race and locking into the Dash.

Running fifth in the Dash, the Hollister, CA native took the green flag for the 30-lapper from the inside of the third row.

As the race came to life, Bernal briefly fell back to sixth before getting into fifth on the fifth lap. His stay in fifth was short lived as he moved into fourth on the eighth circuit and chased after third running, Andy Forsberg.

With Forsberg having some issues on a restart, Bernal was there to take the final spot on the podium on the 12th lap as he chased after Shane Golobic and race leader, Justin Sanders.

Very strong in third, Bernal wasn’t quite able to get to the lead duo to battle for a spot inside the Top-two as he capped the night off with a third place run.

Back in action with JFM on Saturday night, Bernal again timed in very well as a fifth quick effort put him on the front row of his heat race. Racing to the heat race win, Bernal moved into the Dash where the one pill put him on the pole of the six-lap shootout.

Finishing second in the Dash, Bernal was on the front row of the feature event and as the race came to life he quickly jumped out to the lead and began setting a very strong pace.

Quickly reaching the back of the pack, Bernal was able to get through traffic well as the first 27 laps of the race went non stop.

Abel to create distance over second and third running Chance Grasty and Joel Myers Jr, the only thing able to slow Bernal down was that first stoppage that came on the 27th lap.

Still able to get out to a good lead on the restart, Bernal looked to be in command until another stoppage came with just two laps left in the race.

The ensuing restart saw Bernal pressured by second running Joel Myers Jr, but third running Shane Golobic joined the fray.

Taking the white flag in the top spot, Bernal had a subtle misstep in turns three and four that created enough of a bobble to let Joel Myers Jr race around the outside of him to steal the win as he settled for second.

“In the moment it was not a good weekend, but in the big picture it was a huge step for our winged efforts,” Ryan Bernal said. “Jimmy and Charlie were on kill all weekend long and they put awesome cars underneath me. It was also great to have feedback from Tyler Walker all weekend long as well.”

JFM would like to thank NOS Energy Drink, Inland Rigging, MPe, SURECAN, Woodland Auto Display, Beilman Motorsports, and 1Way Technologies for their support in 2025.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races: 9, Wins: 0, Top 5’s: 3, Top 10’s: 5

ON TAP: Bernal will be idle this weekend before returning to action with the NARC series the 16th and 17th in Watsonville, CA and Tulare, CA.
