Chance Grasty Bags Two Top-5’s Over Busy Weekend
PETERSEN MEDIA- Getting in three races at two tracks over the Memorial Day Weekend, Chance Grasty and F&F Racing sandwiched a DNF in between a third and fifth place finish.
“We had good car speed all weekend, but a little contact in the Saturday night feature kept us from potentially three top-five finishes,” Chance Grasty said.
Kicking the weekend off on Thursday night in Chico, CA, Grasty got off to a quick start as he timed the Bushey Financial Services/C&H Motor Parts/Sierra Single Ply Roofing backed No. x1 in second fastest in qualifying time trials.
Lining up sixth in heat race competition, the Suisun, CA driver continued to have a ton of speed on the Silver Dollar Speedway ¼ mile as he worked his way to a second place finish and was the high point earner heading into the feature event.
With the top-eight in points being inverted for the 30-lapper, Grasty rolled off the starting grid from the fourth row as he looked to add to his total to lock directly into the Saturday night feature event.
In a wild feature event, Grasty was able to avoid some of the action as he worked his way forward on the extremely slick surface. Working his way to a podium finish, Grasty just missed out on a lock in spot but did have enough points to sit on the pole of a Saturday night heat race.
As the action on Saturday night came to life, Grasty didn’t get the jump he had hoped for as he slipped to second when his heat went green. Hanging on to finish second, Grasty moved into the feature event as he took the green flag from the ninth starting spot.
On a tricky surface in the feature event, Grasty held his own in the Top-10 as he wasn’t quite able to make a big charge forward.
Moving into eighth in the closing laps, Grasty was making a bid for seventh when contact to his front end caused damage and forced him to pull into the infield and end his night a little earlier than planned.
Leaving Chico, CA and heading to Marysville, CA on Sunday night for Sprint Car Challenge Tour action, Grasty again laid down a strong lap in time trials as he was second quick in his flight before transferring into the Dash through his heat race.
Finishing second in the High Sierra Industries Dash, Grasty sat on the front row of the feature event and looked good in the early stages of the race.
As the laps clicked off he started to struggle on the bottom groove and fell back. Slipping all the way back to seventh at one point, Grasty moved to the high groove and worked his way back up to fifth by the time the checkered flag was displayed to the field.
“We were fast all weekend, and we have been fast at Placerville Speedway the last couple of weeks and that has me extremely excited for a double header there this weekend,” Grasty said. “It was a long weekend, but my guys worked hard and all of their efforts are appreciated.”
F&F Racing would like to thank Bushey Financial Services, C&H Motor Parts, Sierra Single Ply Roofing, Wrayvon, CRV Carbon Solutions, Quick Change Liquid Energy, All Pro Heads, Engler, and Don Ott Racing Engines for their support.
ON TAP: F&F Racing and Chance Grasty will compete at Placerville Speedway this Friday and Saturday night with the SCCT and NARC.
