PETERSEN MEDIA: Cole Wakim and the Josh Ford Motorsports team raced close to team headquarters over the weekend as they were in action at Ventura Raceway where the Simi Valley, CA driver pocketed a second place finish on the tight bullring.

“We had a ton of speed all night long, and just didn’t run a great line in the feature and ended up fishing second,” Cole Wakim said. “Thanks to everyone associated with JFM for all of the hard work, and the strong car.”

Earning fast time honors in time trials aboard the Quick-Change Liquid Energy/Inland Rigging/MPe backed No. 73 mount, Wakim flexed his muscle in his heat race as he raced to the win.

Lining up sixth in the feature event after the invert, Wakim again showcased a very strong racecar as he began picking off cars as he chased after the race lead.

Powering his way into the top spot on the race’s fifth lap, Wakim set sail as he continued to click off laps out front on the scenic bullring in Ventura County.

As the laps clicked down, Wakim lost the top spot with just three laps left in the race. Trying to wrestle the lead back in the closing laps, he was unable to do so  as he brought the SURECAN/Woodland Auto Display/1Way Technologies entry home with a runner up finish.

“I felt really good out front, I was just not where I needed to be, and it was one of those circumstances where it paid to be running second,” Wakim noted.
