PETERSEN MEDIA: Getting back to Marysville Raceway after a strong run at the track just two weeks ago, Blake Carrick overcame a tough start to his night and fought hard to pick up a fifth place finish.
“We got off to a pretty slow start, but we all kept with it, and rebounded to make it a really nice night for our team,” Blake Carrick said.
Timing the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 38B machine in 21stquick in qualifying time trials, the Lincoln, CA driver would find himself back in the third row for heat race competition.
On a track that was extremely narrow in heat race action, Carrick would finish in the sixth position and be forced to run in the night’s ‘B-Main.” Lining up fifth in the semi, Carrick was able to maneuver around the Marysville Raceway as the track had widened out over the course of the night.
Working his way up to a second place finish, the Lincoln, CA driver had successfully raced into the 30-lap feature event and his night was far from over.
Lining up in the 18thstarting position, Carrick would driver a smart race as he was mired in dense traffic much of the night. Taking a liking to the high side of the speedway, Carrick was able to make up ground and work his way forward.
Taking advantage of some late restarts, the younger Carrick brother would make continuous moves as he raced inside the Top-10. Continuing to work his way forward, Carrick would close his night out with a fifth place finish and cap a very nice run through the field.
“It was good to bounce back like we did,” Blake Carrick said. “Thanks to everyone on our race team for sticking with me and giving me a really good car in the ‘A’.
