Steven Tiner and C&M Motorsports 7th at Forni Classic

PETERSEN MEDIA- Getting the nod to again pilot the potent C&M Motorsports No. 7c on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway during the 14th Annual Mark Forni Classic, Steven Tiner wouldn’t have the night he had hoped for, but still fought hard to finish seventh in the feature event.

“This is a race that I want to win very badly, and Saturday night just didn’t go how we hoped,” Steven Tiner said. “I put us in a hole in time trials, and then needing to win the heat to make the redraw, I got called for a jump and ended up starting deep in the field. Overall it was still a fun night, and I can’t thank Cody and Mandi enough for giving me a shot to run the Forni.”

Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, Tiner would get things underway by timing the Moorefield Construction, Inc./PT Shocks/Swartz Diesel backed machine in 12th fastest in qualifying time trials, just making the heat race inversion.

Lining up on the pole of his heat, officials ruled that Tiner got on the throttle too early and he was put back one row. On a fast track surface early in the night, passing would be at a premium as Tiner would finish in the third position, still putting him safely in the 25-lap feature.

Taking the green flag from the 12th starting position, Tiner would have his work cut out for himself as he navigated through traffic. On the slick surface, the Elverta, CA driver would move around and simply put his machine where others weren’t as he would battle two and three wide at times.

Making some headway inside the Top-10, Tiner would get what he could as he fought hard and finished seventh when the dust settled on the feature event.

“We had a really good car, and I actually felt more comfortable on Saturday then I did a week ago when we ran second,” Tiner explained. “It was tough getting through traffic at times, and in reality I probably could have picked up a couple of more positions but played it a little cautious. Looking forward to hopefully running with these guys again, and am thankful that Cody and Mandi continue to field a really nice racecar.”

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Moorefield Construction, Inc., PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, Alturas Tires, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.
