Andy Forsberg 2nd at Marysville Raceway
PETERSEN MEDIA: Making the decision to head to Marysville Raceway on Saturday night to test out a new brake package on the PHR No. 92, Andy Forsberg took a bit to adapt to the changes but still was able to come away with a second-place finish.
“I am fortunate to drive for a great car owner, and he likes to have cool things,” Andy Forsberg said. “He got a new Smith TI brake system for us, so we decided to head to Marysville Raceway over the weekend to test it out essentially. It was way different than what I was used to, but after some adjustments I think we landed in a pretty good spot with them.”
Going out first in time trials, Forsberg was unable to get a good lap in as he ended up 11th fastest in the group. Lining up sixth in his heat race, the Auburn, CA driver was able to pick up a few positions as a fourth-place finish put him in the fourth row of the 25-lap feature event.
Feeling much better about his car and his brake pedal after his heat, Forsberg set out for the feature event looking to make a run from the eighth starting position.
When the race came to life, Forsberg quickly jumped into seventh as he worked around the Marysville Raceway surface. Getting into sixth on the fourth lap, the Auburn, CA driver was into the top-five on the fifth lap and quickly took over fourth a lap later.
Continuing to look for a way forward while running in fourth, Forsberg moved into third at the race’s halfway point as he continued to navigate traffic and chase after race leader, Sean Becker. Finally getting into second on the 19th lap, Forsberg was able to cut into the gap that Becker had built up, but was unable to really close in and settled for a second-place finish.
“The track really got around the bottom in the feature and made things a little tricky,” Forsberg said. “But, we were able to move forward and I feel really good about this new brake package.”
Andy Forsberg and PHR Racing would like to thank Pacific Highway Rentals, Wilkie Masonry, Western Traffic Supply, PitStopUSA, Red Line Oil, FK Rod Ends, Autism Awareness, Parking and Transportation Group, MCK, 1st Vanguard, Highway Specialty Co., and KBJ Catering for their continued support.
