Andy Forsberg 2nd at Placerville
PETERSEN MEDIA: Andy Forsberg and the PHR Racing team continued their red hot start to the season at Placerville Speedway as the team recorded their third podium finish in three starts as Forsberg picked up a second place finish on Saturday night.
“We went out super late in time trials, and we threw down a really good lap and ended up quick time in our group and fourth overall,” Andy Forsberg said. “We had some good luck in the redraw and that put us in a good spot for the feature event.”
With 35 cars on hand, Forsberg timed the Meridan Cameras/Pacific Highway Rentals/Oroville Tax backed no. 92 in fastest in his qualifying flight and lined up in the second row of his heat race.
Needing to finish in the top-four to make the redraw, he picked up a third place finish and then went on to pull the one pill in the redraw.
Lining up on the front row of the feature event alongside Dominic Gorden, Forsberg got the initial jump until an early stoppage bunched the field back up.
The ensuring restart saw the youngster get the best of the grizzled veteran, as Gorden took the top spot over Forsberg as the duo hooked up in an entertaining battle.
With Gorden able to keep Forsberg at bay on the slick racing surface, Forsberg was able to maintain the runner up position as the Ron Stahl checkered flag was displayed to the field giving him and the PHR team their third consecutive podium at Placerville.
“Big credit to the team for continuing to work hard during the week and at the track,” Forsberg said. “They have been putting a great car under me and on Saturday it was definitely better than I was.”
