Andy Forsberg Rallies to 4th Place Finish at Placerville Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA: Finding himself in an opening lap predicament on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, Andy Forsberg was able to rally from the back of the pack and pocket a fourth-place finish.

“We had another really good car on Saturday night, but I just flat made a mistake on the first lap and put us in a really bad spot,” Andy Forsberg said. “Luckily with how the race went, and how the crew had my car, I was able to fight back forward and actually battle for the final spot on the podium.”

With 20 cars checked in at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night, Forsberg got the night underway by earning his first fast time award aboard his Pacific Highway Rentals/Wilkie Masonry/Western Traffic Supply backed No. 92 entry.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Forsberg picked up a third-place finish which was enough to lock him into the nightly redraw. Ending up with the ‘six’, Forsberg was set to go from the outside of the third row for the 30-lap finale.

As the green waved and the field rumbled into turns one and two, Forsberg entered on the cushion and did all but get upside down as he came to a stop off the edge of the track.

With now issues to his entry, the Auburn, CA driver was able to restart though he would do it from the rear of the field. The ensuing restart saw a couple of cars get together and Forsberg was able to pick up a few positions quickly with no laps complete.

As the action eventually went green, Forsberg was quickly back into the Top-10 by the third lap and then was up into eighth on the fourth marker. Continuing to race his way forward, he was into sixth on the 10th lap and then entered the Top-5 at the race’s halfway point.

Able to take over the fourth position on the 20th lap, Forsberg hooked up in a very entertaining battle for third with Justyn Cox as the duo seemingly swapped positions with each lap.

When the race drew to a close, it was Forsberg ultimately settling for a fourth-place finish.

“We had a really good battle with Justyn Cox going at the end of the race, and just the way our laps and swaps sequenced he ended up on the podium and we settled for fourth,” Forsberg added.

Andy Forsberg and PHR Racing would like to thank Pacific Highway Rentals, Wilkie Masonry, Western Traffic Supply, PitStopUSA, Red Line Oil, FK Rod Ends, Autism Awareness, Parking and Transportation Group, MCK, 1st Vanguard, Highway Specialty Co., and KBJ Catering for their continued support.
