Andy Forsberg Records 6th and 11th Place Finishes Amidst Busy Weekend
PETERSEN MEDIA: Andy Forsberg and the PHR team performed well during a third another busy weekend for the team in Northern California. Competing at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA with the 410ci on Friday night, Forsberg finished 11th before running sixth in 360ci action on Saturday night in Placerville, CA.
“It has been a pretty hectic couple of weeks for our team and overall it went well, and this weekend we were pretty good again,” Andy Forsberg said. “Friday night the track was tricky and I tried to run the top on a late restart but it didn’t work out and I slipped back to 11th, and Saturday night we were able to pick up a few spots and finish sixth.”
Checking in at Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday night for the Brownell/Herseth Classic, Forsberg got off to a slow start as he timed in 15th fastest after going out second to last in qualifying time trials.
Lining up in the third row of his heat race, the Auburn, CA driver picked up a spot aboard the Meridian Cameras/PHR/Oroville Tax backed No. 92 as he finished fourth and lined up in the seventh row of the feature event.
On a narrow racing surface following a track rework, Forsberg worked hard to pick up positions as he finally cracked the Top-10 on the 20th lap, and was up into ninth on the 21st lap.
Continuing to run inside the Top-10 during a fast paced race, the lone stoppage of the night came on the 24th lap. Restarting ninth, Forsberg went to the top in turns one and two and was able to maintain, but as he went to the top in turns three and four, it didn’t work out so well as he gave up all of the positions he had spent all race gaining and slipped back to 11th.
Settling back into the bottom groove during the final laps, Forsberg finished 11th as the team then shifted gears and turned their attention to 360ci action on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway.
Making their way to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night for the track’s ‘Big Trophy Night’, Forsberg stopped the clock with the fastest lap of the night in time trials.
Lining up fourth in his heat race, Forsberg had a good run in his heat as he worked his way to a second place finish which not only put him in the feature, it also ensured him a spot in the redraw.
Pulling the vaunted eight pill, Forsberg rolled off the starting grid from the outside of the fourth row for the 25-lap finale.
When the race went to green, Forsberg just wasn’t quite able to put himself in good spots to mount a charge to the front and chase after his third consecutive win at the track.
Able to pick off a few positions along the way, the defending track champion capped the night off with a sixth-place finish.
“It wasn’t a bad weekend by any means,” Forsberg said. “We just didn’t quite put ourselves in best spots. The good news is, both cars are in one piece, and the team gets a bit of an easy week after three straight multi-day shows.”
Andy Forsberg and PHR Racing would like to thank Meridian Cameras, Pacific Highway Rentals, Oroville Tax, Wilkie Masonry, Western Traffic Supply, PitStopUSA, Red Line Oil, FK Rod Ends, Autism Awareness, Parking and Transportation Group, MCK, 1st Vanguard, Highway Specialty Co., and KBJ Catering for their continued support.
