Andy Forsberg Nets Top-Five and Top-10 at Silver Cup

PETERSEN MEDIA: Looking to build off of his season opening win at Marysville Raceway, Andy Forsberg and the PHR Racing team were back in action over the weekend in Chico, CA where Forsberg finished fourth on Friday night before tallying a seventh-place finish during the Silver Cup finale on Saturday.

“Overall, it was a solid weekend for our team,” Andy Forsberg said. “It was great to get up to Chico, CA and see what the SLC Promotions team has been up to, and race wise we were able to run well on a hooked-up surface Friday, and try some things when it got super slick on Saturday.”

Getting off to an auspicious start on Friday night by timing in 21st in qualifying time trials, Forsberg lined up in the fourth row of his heat race. Taking the green flag from seventh, the Auburn, CA driver worked his way up to a fourth place finish which locked him into the opening night feature event, and put him on the outside of the sixth row.

On a old school, heavy and rough Silver Dollar Speedway surface, Forsberg was in his element as he bounced, biked, and raced his way forward. Getting up on two wheels a time or two during the feature event, Forsberg was able to race his way into the Top-5 and cap the night off with a fourth place finish.

Saturday night saw polar opposite track conditions, and Forsberg and company were up for the challenge. Timing the PHR/Oroville Tax/Wilkie Masonry backed No. 92 in 12th quickest in time trials, Forsberg’s third place finish in his heat race was good enough to lock him into the mid-pack Dash.

Finishing third in the Mid-Pack Dash, Forsberg lined up ninth on the starting grid for the 35-lap Silver Cup finale. On an extremely slick surface, Forsberg was able to keep his mount inside the Top-10 as he worked around the slick Silver Dollar Speedway surface.

When the race drew to a close and the weekend came to an end, Forsberg took the checkered flag with an eighth-place result.

“It’s been great getting back into the swing of things,” Forsberg said. “The team is working hard, everyone is happy, and now we will look forward to our first 410ci event of the season before heading to Las Vegas.”

Andy Forsberg and PHR Racing would like to thank Meridian Cameras, Pacific Highway Rentals, Oroville Tax, Wilkie Masonry, Western Traffic Supply, PitStopUSA, Red Line Oil, FK Rod Ends, Autism Awareness, Parking and Transportation Group, MCK, 1st Vanguard, Highway Specialty Co., and KBJ Catering for their continued support.
