PETERSEN MEDIA- Travelling to Deming Speedway in Washington for the Clay Cup Nationals, Austin Torgerson had a great showing as he finished fourth in the feature event on Saturday night.

The three-day event kicked off on Thursday night where Torgerson got the trip kicked off by earning fast time honors in qualifying time trials with 55 cars checked into the pit area.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, the Glendale, AZ driver finished fourth and locked into the opening night feature event where he rolled off the starting grid from the outside of the fourth row.

On the racy surface, Torgerson was able to work his way through the field and earn valuable event points with each pass he made. Racing his way into the Top-Five, Torgerson was able to get on the podium as he closed the night out with a third place finish.

Back in action on Friday night, Torgerson continued to show speed in the northwest as he kicked the night off by timing in fifth quickest in time trials before earning a third-place finish in his heat race.

Lining up in the fifth row for the second preliminary night feature event, Torgerson wasn’t able to work his way through the field as much as he did during the opener, but his seventh-place finish put him fifth overall in Clay Cup points heading into the finale.

With the feature event lined up straight off of points, Torgerson rolled off the starting grid from the fifth starting position and got off to a great start as he raced his way into third.

Pounding the high side of the speedway, the track changed and became bottom dominant, but Torgerson was determined to make the high side continue to work. Despite it slowing down, he was able to pace the leaders as he ultimately brought the weekend to a close with a fourth place finish.

ON TAP: Torgerson will be idle this weekend.
