With a light car count on hand Saturday night, officials opted to use a dual heat format opposed to time trials, which worked out for Torgerson as it gave him more laps on the 3/8 mile oval.
Lining up in the second row of his first heat race, Torgerson went to school a bit as he learned the nuances of the bigger track after much of his sprint car racing had been done on ¼ mile bullrings.
Slopping back to fifth during the eight lapper, Torgerson found himself in the third row of his second heat race with eight more circuits to continue to adapt and get a feel for King Speedway.
Battling with the likes of younger brother, Ashton, and Cody Key, Torgerson slipped back to seventh in his second heat race. Finishing in seventh, Torgerson found himself on the pole of the feature event with the way the inversion played out.
Taking the green flag from the front row, Torgerson slipped back to third on the race’s second attempted start after a yellow negated the first attempt.
Falling back to fourth on the third lap, the Arizona resident was focused on running clean laps. Falling out of the Top-Five on the 12th lap, Torgerson was back in sixth as he chased after Kyle Rasmussen who ran just ahead of him in fifth.
As the claps clicked off, he stayed put in sixth and went on to finish there as the 20-lap finale came to a close.
ON TAP: Torgerson will be idle this weekend with his next event TBD.
