Austin Torgerson Enjoys Win and Podium in Adams Performance Entry at Adobe Mountain
PETERSEN MEDIA- Austin Torgerson enjoyed a very good weekend at Adobe Mountain Speedway in non-winged micro sprint competition. Piloting the Adams Performance No. 28, Torgerson scored with the win on Friday night before running third from his deep starting position in the Tribute to Billy Shuman finale.
Using a pill draw format over the weekend at Adobe Mountain Speedway for the Tribute to Billy Shuman, the Glendale, AZ driver found himself lining up on the front row of his heat race.
When his heat race came to life, Torgerson settled into second as he chased after the early leader, Brodie Wake. Stalking Wake, Torgerson remained in striking distance all race long, and was in position to strike when Wake bobbled on the sixth lap. Powering into the lead, Torgerson picked up the win which put him in the second row of the impending 20-lap feature evet.
Lining up fourth on the starting grid, Torgerson moved into second on the race’s opening stanza as he flexed his muscle early in the Friday night feature. Moving into the race’s top spot on the fourth lap, Torgerson never looked back. Out in front, he set a very strong pace as he left the field in his wake.
Clicking off laps quickly, Torgerson went on to score his seventh overall win of 2024.
Saturday night marked a new night for the Tribute to Billy Shuman finale, and Torgerson found himself in the second row of his heat race on this night.
Finishing fourth, Torgerson was forced into a ‘B’ Main where he lined up on the front row of the semi. Looking to keep his night alive and transfer into the feature, Torgerson powered his way into the lead and gave himself some early breathing room.
Picking up the win, Torgerson locked into the feature event where he took the green flag from the 17th starting position. From the back of the pack, Torgerson was equally as impressive as he was on Friday night from the front.
Jumping into 14th, Torgerson was into the Top-10 by the second lap as he raced into eight and powered into fifth on the fifth lap.
Moving into fourth on the sixth lap, Torgerson continued with his torrid pace as he worked into third on the ninth lap. Once in third, the race ended up being called earlier than scheduled and he capped his weekend off with a charge from 17th to 3rd.
