Braden Chiaramonte 2nd In SCCT Speedweek Points
PETERSEN MEDIA: Taking part in Sprint Car Challenge Tour Speedweek which spanned from CA to WA, Braden Chiaramonte had a very good and consistent showing that culminated with the El Cajon, CA driver finishing second in the overall points.
“I was really happy with how our Speedweek went up until the final night at Skagit Speedway,” Braden Chiaramonte said. “It was our third time getting to the northwest tracks and we had really good speed each night.”
Running seven races across three states in nine nights, the action got started in CA back on July 17 in Chico, CA. Having a great start to the night where he timed in eighth fastest and raced his way into the Dash, Chiaramonte got his week started on the right foot with a seventh-place finish.
The CA portion of Speedweek concluded on Saturday night as the series checked in at Placerville Speedway, the site of Chiaramonte’s win on the season. Continuing to show speed on the track’s famed red clay, Chiaramonte timed in sixth fastest in time trials and again advanced into the Dash based on his heat race win.
Finishing third in the Dash, Chiaramonte kept his machine out of trouble during what was a very chaotic feature event. Battling for a podium spot when the racing action was green, the night came to a close with a fourth-place finish.
Using Sunday as a travel day to kick off a three-night stint in the state of Oregon, Monday night’s destination was the Douglas County Dirt Track in Roseburg, OR.
Continuing to time in well, Chiaramonte was even better on Monday as he stopped the clock with the fourth fastest lap of the night before again racing to a heat race win. Finishing fifth in the Dash, he lined up fifth in the feature event on a racy Douglas County Dirt Track surface.
Putting together what ended up being his best run of the week, Chiaramonte landed on the podium with a third-place finish.
Tuesday night the series took a trip to the coast as they rolled into Coos Bay, OR and Coos Bay Speedway. Chiaramonte picked up a seventh-place finish here before capping the OR portion of Speedweek off with a sixth-place finish on Wednesday night.
Heading north on Thursday, Friday night saw Chiaramonte and company check in at Skagit Speedway for two nights of action in Washington.
With just shy of 50 cars checked in, Chiaramonte timed in ninth fastest in his flight and finished fifth in his heat race. With event points being utilized over the weekend, Chiaramonte lined up on the pole of the ‘B’, for one final shot to qualify for the ‘A’.
Picking up the win, Chiaramonte moved into the feature event where he lined up in the 21st starting position. In another extremely wild ‘A’, the youngster was able to run a very smooth race as he carved his way forward and picked up valuable event points in doing so.
When the nearly 90-minute race came to an end, he closed Friday night out with a 10th place finish.
Saturday night marked the finale for the Skagit Speedway 360 Nationals as well as SCCT Speedweek, and it was the most eventful evening that Chiaramonte and his team faced.
During engine heat, Chiaramonte noticed something amiss under the hood of his car, and his team went to work swapping powerplants. Missing hot laps, he was able to make the call for his qualifier where his fourth-place finish moved him into the feature event.
Lining up 18th in the ‘A’, Chiaramonte worked his way into 15th as the race clicked off 25 laps caution free. However, when the race went back to green, Chiaramonte slowed down the front stretch with more engine issues and his night was over.
“For whatever reason, Skagit has been hard on me each time I get the chance to race there,” Chiaramonte said. “Big thank you to my family and everyone that was able to make the trip and help. It was a tough week, but we had fun, and had some really good speed.”

ON TAP: Chiaramonte is tentatively scheduled to be off the next couple of weeks before returning to action on August 20th at Santa Maria Speedway with Interstate Batteries High Limit Racing.
