Brenham Crouch Opens 2025 With Runner Up Run at Chili Bowl Prelim and Locks Into Finale
PETERSEN MEDIA: Despite the sting of running second during his preliminary night at the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals, Brenham Crouch was able to see the silver lining and celebrate the fact that he is locked into Saturday’s 40-lap Chili Bowl feature event aboard his Crouch Motorsports/Hayward Motorsports/Indiana Performance Composites No. 1 entry.
“I have ran second at my prelim before, which was a while ago, but it doesn’t exactly feel great,” Brenham Crouch said. “Dwelling on that isn’t going to put us back in that race to re-run it, so we have to focus on what is in front of us.”
For Crouch, he entered the 2025 Chili Bowl in his family owned car looking for get what promises to be a big season of change kicked off on the right foot as he will move from his family team to the CJB Motorsports team for his sophomore campaign with High Limit Racing.
Kicking the night off in heat race action, the Lubbock, TX native lined his Horizon Whiskey/Hi-Plains Building Division/Carbon Safety backed mount up on the front row. With passing points the theme of prelim night, Crouch needed to maintain the second spot at worst to qualify for a qualifier.
Setting into second as the action got underway, Crouch held the spot and was able to avoid a ‘C’ as he tabulated just enough points to tag the last row for qualifier action. Lining up seventh, the youngster came to life as he worked the Tulsa Expo surface to perfection.
Navigating his way forward, Crouch impressed all on lookers as he charged from seventh to pick up the win and tabulate enough points to put his mount on the pole of the 30-lap feature event as he chased after one of two Saturday night lock in spots that were up for grabs.
When the race came to life, Crouch quickly went to work on the slick surface as he set the early pace. Leading the way, Crouch looked very strong on the bullring as the only thing that hindered him for much of the race was stoppages.
However, the closing laps of the race saw the Texan under siege from a pair of California natives, in Landon Brooks, and Buddy Kofoid. An intense three car battle in the closing stages of the race saw Brooks sneak by to take the lead on the 28th lap, only for Crouch to return the favor a lap later.
The battle wasn’t done however as Brooks used the momentum up top in turns one and two to get back by Crouch on the last lap and set him back to second, where he went on to finish, and lock into the feature event on Saturday night.
“We are looking towards Saturday for sure,” Crouch added. “We were able to accomplish something that a lot of people dream about, and I am going to keep that in the back of my head for the rest of the week. I am grateful for the position I am in and it is thanks to my dad and Hi Plains Building Division, Brodie Hayward, Jeff West, and all of the guys who work on this, and the great people that support us.”
BY THE NUMBERS: Starts- 0, Wins-0, Top-5’s- 0, Top-10’s-0
