Chance Grasty Fourth at Placerville Speedway
PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to action on Saturday fresh off an idle weekend, Chance Grasty and the F&F Racing team put themselves right in the thick of Placerville Speedway track championship battle by way of a fourth-place finish in the feature event.
“Our night started out rough going out late for time trials, and with the track surface we didn’t time in well at all,” Chance Grasty said. “Luckily, we raced extremely well, and our heat race put us in a great spot for the feature and we were able to capitalize.”
Timing in 14th fastest of the 23 cars checked into the pit area, Grasty lined the Bushey Financial Services/C&H Motor Parts/Sierra Single Ply Roofing backed entry up in the third row of his heat race.
On the extremely slick surface, the Suisun City, CA driver was up on the wheel as he made some big moves to work his way forward. Racing his way all the way up to a second place finish, Grasty was locked into the fourth row for the 25-lap feature event.
Taking the green from eighth, Grasty slipped back on the reworked surface as he spent the first portion of the feature event fighting to get into the Top-10 as he was back in 11th.
With 10-laps to go in the race, Grasty came to life as the track started to slick back off and widen out. Jumping into ninth on the 14th lap, Grasty worked his way into eighth on the 19th lap.
Some wild antics took place just ahead of him on the 20th lap and it moved into up into fifth for a late restart. When the race resumed, Grasty was able to get another spot and pocket a fourth place finish, and move to just eight markers out of the Track Championship point lead with two point races left on the docket.
“I really want to thank the entire crew for their hard work to keep us in the game after my poor qualifying effort,” Grasty added. “I’m glad we were able to bounce back and have good finish. Also, a big thank you to all of the great partners we have that let us run such a busy schedule, and give us the tools we need to succeed.”
