Colby Copeland and C&M Motorsports 5th with SCCT in Tulare, CA

PETERSEN MEDIA – Climbing back aboard the C&M Motorsports No. 7c on Saturday night for another round of Sprint Car Challenge Tour action in Tulare, CA, Colby Copeland had a solid showing that saw him pick up a fifth-place finish in what was a non-stop 30-lap feature.

“With the way the track was, we just needed to have a better redraw,” Colby Copeland said with a smile. “We had a really fast car all night thanks to Cody and Bobby, but it was a night where you finished where you started.”

Going out in the middle of the qualifying session on Saturday night, Copeland laid down a strong lap aboard the NOS Energy Drink/Lund Construction/Anrak backed No. 7c which resulted in him timing in fifth fastest.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, Copeland found himself in a drag race with DJ Netto heading into turns one and two. With Netto beating him to the corner, the Roseville, CA driver settled in behind him and held down the runner up position.

Finishing second, Copeland locked into the redraw where the ‘five’ put him in the third row of the 30-lapper on a very hooked up and fast Thunderbowl Raceway surface.

Following a quick track prep session, the field assembled for their lone appearance at the 1/3 mile oval of the season. When the green lights flashed on, Copeland settled into fifth and the field began turning in lightning-fast laps.

With laps clicking off extremely fast, the leaders did work their way into traffic at the race’s halfway point. Amidst traffic, Copeland snuck into fourth on the 17th lap, but was then back to sixth on the next lap.

Clicking off 30-laps with no stoppages, Copeland was able to work back into fifth on the 24th lap which is where he went on to close the night out.

“Running double duty, I was back and forth between both cars so it didn’t make it the easiest on my guys, but they did a great job of making sure we were ready,” Copeland noted.

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank NOS Energy Drink, Lund Construction, Anrak, Sam Rhodes, MatriScope, Econo Lube-n-Tune, Alturas Tires, Swartz Diesel, Kings Meats, American Paving Systems, PT Shocks, and RJM Builders and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.
