PETERSEN MEDIA: Back in action on Saturday night at Ventura Raceway with the USCS, Cole Wakim had a good night going up until a car in front of him endured a part failure which led to Wakim making contact and flipping wildly.

“It was a less than ideal situation on Saturday night,” Cole Wakim said. “We had a really good night going again, but we were in the wrong place at the wrong time when a car broke a steering box in front of me and I got up over his left rear and took a pretty big ride.”

Timing the Quick Change Liquid Energy/Inland Rigging/MPe backed No. 73 entry in second fastest in his qualifying flight, the Simi Valley, CA driver finished third in his heat race which put him in the fourth row of the feature event.

As the feature event went green, Wakim was able to pick up a few spots early and he felt very strong on the tight confines of Ventura Raceway.

As Wakim continued to work his way through the Top-10, trouble broke out in front of him and with nowhere to go Wakim made contact and then took a wild ride.

While he was able to walk way form the accident unscathed his night came to an abrupt end.

“I hate that our night ended like that, and I hate that we tore up a lot of equipment, but thankful that I was able to walk away,” Wakim said. “Thanks to everyone at JFM who supports us and all of our sponsors for all they do.”
