Cole Wakim and JFM 15th with USAC/CRA at Perris Auto Speedway
PETERSEN MEDIA: Returning to Perris Auto Speedway on Saturday night for USAC/CRA action, Josh Ford Motorsports scored a 15th place finish with Cole Wakim in the Quickchange Liquid Energy/Inland Rigging/MPe backed No. 73 mount.
“First off I want to thank Kyle Beilman for loaning us a 410ci engine for the night,” Wakim said. “Saturday night was all about me adapting to the car and I was just kind of off at times.”
Taking to the southern California half mile on Saturday night, Wakim got the night underway by timing in 13th fastest in qualifying time trials. Finding himself in a bit of an early hole, Wakim finished sixth in his heat race as the JFM team went to work to make wholesale changes prior to the night’s feature event.
When Wakim hit the track for the ‘A’, the changes seemed to be to his liking early as he was able to work his way forward in the early stanzas.
Continuing to battle amidst the hotly contested feature event, Wakim’s early race moves were undone as he started to drift back through the field.
Trying a few different lines as the laps clicked away, Wakim ended the night with a 15th place finish when the checkered flag was shown to the field.
“It was a tough night for me for sure, but overall it was another super fun night with the JFM team,” Wakim added. “I am looking forward to the USCS race this weekend in Bakersfield, CA.”
