Dakota Albright Caps Season With Runner Up Finish at Hangtown 100
PETERSEN MEDIA- Traveling to Placerville Speedway on Saturday for one final race in 2025, Dakota Albright and his team had a solid finale as the Waterford, CA driver closed the year out with a 2nd place finish.
“From start to finish we were pretty good,” Dakota Albright said. “We timed in well and raced well in our heat and in the feature. We weren’t quite good enough to pick up the win, but I am happy to end our season on a good note.”
With a total of 17 Lighting Sprints checked into Placerville Speedway to take part in the Hangtown 100, Albright timed his Thompson’s Family of Dealerships/Matos Accountancy/Greenwood Machine and Fab backed No. 35jr mount in third fastest in qualifying time trials.
Taking the green flag from the fifth starting position in his heat race, Albright was able to move forward on the extremely fast and locked down track surface that took a beating from excessive rain in the days leading up to the event.
Working his way up to a fourth place finish, Albright was locked into the outside of the second row for the 20-lap feature event.
Hitting the track for the feature event, things had a hard time getting going as numerous start attempts were negated to flips. Abel to avoid some of the fray, Albright was up into second when the race finally went green.
Running in second, Albright was able to keep race leader, Greg Dennett within striking distance but just didn’t quite have enough to get up to him and battle for the lead.
Despite being extremely happy with his car, Albright was forced to settle for a runner up finish on this night.
“We had a great car in the feature but he was just better,” Albright said. “Nothing to hang our heads about heading into the offseason. We had good speed, and I am happy with how we were ending our year.”
Dakota Albright would like to thank Thompson’s Family of Dealerships, Matos Accountancy, Greenwood Machine and Fabrication, 530 Wraps, Oval Chassis Research, Parker Performance and Fabrication, Romey’s Window Cleaning, Nutcher Milk, Angels Heavy Haul, West Steel and Plastics, Calhot Powder Coating, Sala Racing, Petersen Media, and Simpson Race Products for their support in 2025.
