DeCaires Nets 4th Place Finish at Skagit Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA: Making his way back to Skagit Speedway on Saturday night after being idle for a week in observance of the Super Dirt Cup, Bubba DeCaires put together a very solid run that saw him pick up a fourth-place finish in the feature event.

“I was really pleased to run fourth behind probably the three best guys at Skagit in the 360ci class,” Bubba DeCaires said. “A couple of little tweaks, and I think we could have been a little better, but overall, I was happy with the night.”

Timing in sixth fastest in qualifying time trials, the Elk Grove, CA driver found himself on the front row of his heat race. Getting the jump when the field was shown the green flag, DeCaires grabbed the early lead but was soon in a hotly contested battle with Trey Starks.

Able to hold him off for a few laps, DeCaires slipped back to second but was able to keep pace in the closing laps. Despite finishing second in his heat, DeCaires was still eligible for the redraw where the three pill placed him in the second row of the feature event.

The feature event had a tough time getting underway and multiple issues led to three separate attempted starts. Once the field was able to bring the race to life, DeCaires settled into third as he chased after the lead duo.

An early restart on lap four saw Colton Heath get by DeCaires and put him back into the fourth spot, but he continued to hang right with the lead pack. Looking for a way back into the top-three, DeCaires wasn’t quite able to get into the top-three and he ended his night with a season best fourth-place finish.

“We tried some different things on our car setup wise, and I was really happy with how it felt,” DeCaires said. “Our last two races out have really been positives and I am excited for the 360 Nationals in a few weeks.”

DeCaires would like to thank Morrison Concrete, Max Sells powered by Red Leaf Realty, High Sierra Industries, JLC Performance, Tiner Hirst Enterprise, Wion’s Body Shop, and QuickCar Racing Products for their support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races-7, Wins-0, Top 5’s-2, Top 10’s-5

ON TAP: DeCaires will make his way back to CA this weekend and compete at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night.
