Grasty 12th During Lone World of Outlaws Start of Season

PETERSEN MEDIA- Traveling to Tulare, CA over the weekend to take part in the Dennis Roth Classic and battle the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series, Chance Grasty had a solid showing as he ran inside the Top-10 late in the race until a final restart saw him slip back to a 12th place finish.

“We had some issues early in the night, but we were able to get them resolved and really had a solid car the rest of the night,” Chance Grasty said.

With 37 cars checked in for the annual event that pays homage to long time team owner, Dennis Roth, Grasty got the night kicked off by timing the Bushey Financial Services/C&H Motor Parts/Single Sierra Ply Roofing backed No. x1 entry in 18th fastest in time trials.

Lining up fifth in his heat race, the Suisun City, CA driver was able to pick up a position during the eight lapper as his fourth place finish put him in the 14th starting spot for the 30-lap, $83,000-to-win feature event.

In a very long feature event that was hindered with a few stoppages, Grasty was able to hold his own against some very stiff competition as he slowly worked his way forward.

Racing into 12th just before the halfway point of the show, Grasty was up into the 11th spot on lap 17.  Working his way inside the Top-10 and into 9th with 10-laps left int eh race, Grasty looked to be on his way to a Top-10 with the Greatest Show on Dirt until a late restart shook things up.

When the action resumed, Grasty wasn’t able to fire off like he needed to as he slipped back a few positions as found himself in 12th with time running out.

Unable to make up the lost ground in the final six laps, Grasty closed the night out with a 12th place finish in what will be his only World of Outlaws start of the season as the series now heads back to the Midwest.

“The feature was long, but we had a good car and I was able to battle with some really good cars,” Grasty said. “I thought we were on our way to a top-10, but just didn’t have a good last restart. Still, 12th is really solid and something that I am happy with.”
