Grasty Grabs Pair of Top-10’s at Calistoga Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA- Heading to Calistoga Speedway over the weekend for the Louie Vermeil Classic, Chance Grasty and the F&F Racing team had a solid showing at the famed ½ mile as Grasty earned finishes of 9th and 7th during his debut.

“Heading into the weekend I didn’t have a ton of expectations with it being my first time on a big track, and it went pretty well,” Grasty said. “I got more comfortable each time we hit the track and it was great to learn some things.”

Saturday night saw the weekend get underway as Grasty timed the Bushey Financial Services/C&H Motor Parts/Sierra Single Ply backed No. x1 entry in ninth fastest in qualifying time trials on a very slick and worn out surface.

With track conditions and time constraints being factored in, the decision was made to scrap NARC heat races on this night and that lined Grasty up in the fifth row for the 25-lap feature event.

When the feature event went green, Grasty settled into ninth as there was not much passing on this night once the field got strung out. With the track staying in decent shape for the feature, the Suisun City, CA driver focused on learning and figuring out the nuisances of the half-mile.

Continuing to run well in the Top-10, Grasty closed the opening night out with a ninth place finish.

Back in action, on Sunday night improved track conditions and a little more familiarity with the track saw Grasty get off to a better start to the night as he timed fifth fastest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, Grasty wasn’t quite able to get the jump down the long straight away into turn one and tucked into second. Keeping the second spot for all eight laps, Grasty’s runner up finish put him in the sixth starting position for the 25-lap feature.

Slipping back to seventh when the finale went green, Grasty worked the bottom of the famed ½ mile. Moving to sixth when the yellow flew on the 10th lap,  the restart saw the youngster slip back to seventh.

Keeping his spot, Grasty capped the weekend with his second Top-10 as he finished in the seventh position.

“It was great to get my first laps on a half mile, and overall I think it was a good weekend,” he added. “I want to thank my entire team and all of our sponsors for their hard work and continued to support to make the weekend possible. I am really excited for another 410ci weekend this week as we return to Placerville.”

F&F Racing would like to thank Bushey Financial Services, C&H Motor Parts, Sierra Single Ply Roofing, Wrayvon, CRV Carbon Solutions, Quick Change Liquid Energy, All Pro Heads, Engler, and Don Ott Racing Engines for their support.

ON TAP: F&F Racing and Chance Grasty are back in action with NARC on Saturday night as the series make their final appearance of the year at Placerville Speedway.
