PETERSEN MEDIA: Making his first start of the season at Ruapuna Speedway on Saturday night, Joel Myers Jr had another strong run as he picked up a third place finish as he now turns his attention to competing with some fellow American racers over the next two weekends.

“We had a pretty good night on Saturday,” Joel Myers Jr said. “We had a call not go our way and that set us back a bit, but overall it is good to be back on the podium.”

Running a dual heat race format at Ruapuna, the Sebastopol, CA driver tallied a pair of runner up finishes aboard his The Ranch Bar and Grill/Suck It Up/FK Rod Ends backed No. 3NZ entry.

Moving into the feature event, Myers Jr rolled off of the starting grid from the inside of the second row.

Settling into third, Myers Jr made contact with a fellow competitor and under the next yellow, the contact was deemed unnecessary and the CA driver was put back into fifth for the ensuing restart.

From fifth, Myers Jr was able to make up the lost ground as he worked his way back into third as he chased after race leader, Jonathan Allard and his DAR teammate for the next few weeks, Brenham Crouch.

Challenging his fellow American runners, Myers Jr couldn’t quite get around either driver and closed the night out with a third-place finish.
