Joel Myers Jr Back on Podium with War of the Wings in Cromwell
PETERSEN MEDIA: Heading to Central Motor Speedway over the weekend for War of the Wings action in Cromwell, Joel Myers Jr was up against a few familiar faces as the weekend kicked off the USA Invasion, and after weather issues cancelled Friday’s feature, Saturday night saw Myers Jr charge from 10th to 3rd in the ‘A’.
“Saturday night we started pretty far back, and just couldn’t get going until a little too late,” Joel Myers Jr said. “We had a pretty good car at the end of the feature, and I am glad I was able to get the DAR No. 3NZ back on the podium.”
Going from fifth to fourth in his first heat race, Myers Jr went 9th to sixth in his second heat. While it was good enough to lock him into the feature event, he had his work cut out for himself as he found his The Ranch Bar and Grill/Suck it Up/FK Rod Ends backed No. 3NZ entry slated to take the green flag from the 10th starting position.
When the feature event came to life, Myers Jr was able to quickly forge his way forward as he was up into seventh on the race’s opening lap. A light bobble on the seventh circuit saw the Sebastopol, CA driver slip back to eighth where he found himself for the next eight laps.
Moving into fifth on the 15th lap, Myers Jr was up into 4th on the 17th lap as he looked for a way to get up to the leaders.
Looking like he was on his way to a fourth-place finish, Myers Jr was able to steal the final podium position on the last lap as he capped his weekend off with a third place effort.
“We are still playing with some things, and we are getting there,” Myers Jr said. “Excited to get back to Ruapuna this weekend for more War of the Wings action.”
