Joel Myers Jr Lands Second Place Finish with War of the Wings at Ruapuna Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA: Returning to Ruapuna Speedway over the weekend with the War of the Wings Series, Joel Myers Jr bounced back from a mishap in Friday night’s feature to tally a second place finish in Saturday’s race after a thrilling run in the pole shuffle.

“Friday night the track was super rough, and battling in the Top-5, I misjudged a moved and got into another car and ended our night,” Joel Myers Jr said. “Saturday, I didn’t have the best start to the night, but we got ripping in the shuffle and had a fun race with Kaleb Montgomery.”

After Friday night’s DNF, Myers Jr and the Danile Anderson Racing team bounced back on Saturday night and scored heat race finishes of first and sixth, which was good enough to lock the Sebastopol, CA driver into the pole shuffle.

Seventh in the seeding for the shuffle, Myers Jr put on a show as he won six matchups to the win the shuffle and earn the pole for the 25-lap feature event, alongside fellow American runner, Kaleb Montgomery.

When the feature event went green, it was Montgomery getting the jump as Myers Jr settled into second. Keeping close tabs on Montgomery, Myers Jr continued to run solidly in second as he waited for an opening to pounce into the lead.

With Montgomery running a very solid race, Myers Jr was with him every step of het way even once they got into traffic. Unable to race his way to the top spot, Myers Jr sat in second as the race was deemed official on the 21st lap due to a wreck once the race was past the local curfew ordinance.

“It was a good recovery for us in the shuffle, and that propelled us to a good finish,” Myers Jr added. “Thankful for everyone associated with this team for all of their efforts.”
