Landon Brooks 4th at Silver Dollar Speedway with NARC

PETERSEN MEDIA: Back in action with NARC on Saturday night for the David Tarter Memorial in Chico, CA, Landon Brooks and Hamilton Racing picked up their second Top-5 of the season with the series as Brooks pocketed a fourth-place finish.

“Saturday night we timed in much better than we have been, and that really makes the rest of the night more manageable,” Brooks said. “We were able to start up front and really mix it up and race in the Top-5 all night long.”

Timing the Lippert Construction/Tiner Hirst Ent./Mozingo Construction backed No. 21L in eighth fastest in qualifying time trials, Brooks lined up on the front row of his heat race.

Needing the win to lock into the nightly Dash, Brooks came up just short as his second-place finish put him in the seventh starting position of the 35-lap David Tarter Memorial feature event.

From the inside of the fourth row, Brooks settled into seventh in the opening stages of the race. With the first 12 laps going non-stop, the Rio Oso, CA driver sat in seventh when the first caution of the night flew.

As he remained strong in the Top-10, Brooks worked into sixth on the 22nd lap and then was quickly up into the Top-5 on the 24th lap. Looking like he was well on his way to a fifth-place result as the end of the race drew near, a late restart allowed Brooks to take over fourth on the 34th lap where he ended the night.  With consecutive NARC top-5’s under the belts, the team now prepares for their annual Fastest 5 Days Speedweek which leads them to Jim Raper Super Dirt Cup.

“We have been working so hard to get our qualifying package figured out, so it feels good that we are heading the right direction as we head into a really busy stretch of our schedule,” Brooks added. “We had another good run in the feature, and if some things would have played out a little different I think we could have landed on the podium.”
