Part Failure Derails Chance Grasty’s Bid For SCCT Top-10

PETERSEN MEDIA- Chance Grasty and the F&F Racing team were in action over the weekend in Merced, CA with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour. Racing from the back of the pack in the feature event, Grasty was battling for a Top-10 finish when a part failure just three laps from the finish dashed his hard charging hopes.

“The track was tricky in qualifying and we struggled to find grip and put down a good lap,” Chance Grasty said. “Luckily, my guys kept working hard and we dug out of the early hole and raced into the feature event.”

With 43 cars on hand for the second round of SCCT action, Grasty timed the Bushey Financial Services/C&H Motor Parts/Sierra Single Ply Roofing backed No. x1 in 13th fastest in his qualifying flight and had his work cut out for himself moving forward.

Taking the green flag from the seventh starting position in his heat race, the Suisun, CA driver managed to pick up a sixth place finish which forced him into the night’s ‘B’ Main.

Lining up in the second row of the semi, Grasty needed to main his spot in the Top-4 to transfer into the feature event, and as the race came to life he did just that. Hanging on to the fourth and final transfer into the feature, Grasty was set to fire off from the 24th starting position for the 35-lap feature event.

After a quick track prep session prior to the feature event going green, Grasty was meticulous from the back of the field as he slowly worked his way forward on a very racy surface that was offered up for the feature.

Getting into the Top-15 during the first half of the race, Grasty continued to run a smart race and keep his nose clean as he ventured near the Top-10. Getting into 11th with nine to go, Grasty began to experience mechanical issues as he dopped back a couple of positions.

Finally, with just three laps left in the race the throttle rod under the hood of Grasty’s entry gave way and brought his night to a close as he was credited with a 17th place finish.

“It was really a promising forward run in the feature despite us not having a ton of speed early in the night,” Grasty added. “The F&F guys continue to work hard week in and week out and I am very appreciative of everyone’s effort.”

F&F Racing would like to thank Bushey Financial Services, C&H Motor Parts, Sierra Single Ply Roofing, Wrayvon, CRV Carbon Solutions, Quick Change Liquid Energy, All Pro Heads, Engler, and Don Ott Racing Engines for their support.

ON TAP: F&F Racing and Chance Grasty will turn their attention back to 410ci racing this weekend as they head to Tulare, CA on Saturday night.
