Paul Nienhiser 2nd with IRA at I-96

PETERSEN MEDIA: Back in action for a pair of IRA events over the weekend, Paul Nienhiser recorded a 2nd place finish on Friday night at I-96 Speedway before running sixth on Saturday at Butler Speedway.

“Overall, it was a really good points weekend for us as he closed the gap on the point lead by 80,” Paul Nienhiser said. “We had good speed each night, and we will keep plugging away and trying to record good finishes.”

Friday night, Nienhiser and his team checked in at I-96 Speedway where the Chapin, IL driver timed the AGRI-YIELD/CAM2 Lubricants/Midland Performance backed No. 9x entry in fifth fastest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Nienhiser flexed his muscle as he charged to the race lead, and ultimately picked up the win to punch his ticket into both the feature event as well as Dash No. 2.

Advancing from fifth to second in the Dash, Nienhiser took the green flag from the second row for the 25-lap feature event. Working his way into third on the fifth lap, Nienhiser settled in as he clicked off laps holding down the final spot on the podium.

With two-to-go, Nienhiser was able to make another move that netted him second in the running order which is where he went on to finish and cap his night off in Lake Odessa, MI.

Saturday night the scene shifted to Butler Speedway where Nienhiser got off to a great start and earned fast time honors in qualifications.

Going from fourth to second in his heat race, Nienhiser moved into the Dash where his second-place finish put him in the second row of the feature event.

When the feature came to life, Nienhiser knew that he and his team missed it on their set up as he slipped back to sixth in the early goings of the race. Able to adapt and maintain, Nienhiser kept his mount well inside the Top-10 as he closed the weekend out with a sixth-place finish.

“Friday night I just feel like I ran a bad race, but we still were able to finish second,” Nienhiser said. “Saturday night we just got to tinkering a little too much on our car and I didn’t feel great in the main. Still, with that being said we still had a very strong weekend results wise and put ourselves right back in the Championship battle.”

Nienhiser would like to thank AGRI-YIELD, CAM2 Lubricants, Midland Performance Inc., MB Heating & Cooling Inc., Buffalo Wild Wings, T&K Tree Services, Morrow Brothers Ford Inc., American Rental Center, Signature Signs, The ID | SP, Bradshaw Custom Pumping, Wessler Bros.
