2020 Off and Running for Kalib Henry and McColloch Motorsports

PETERSEN MEDIA: The long-awaited season opener for Kalib Henry and McColloch Motorsports finally came to fruition on Saturday night as the curtain was raised on the 2020 season at Placerville Speedway.

“It was good to finally get into the McColloch Motorsports entry, and get our season kicked off,” Kalib Henry said. “Nick built a beautiful car to go racing this year, and after 5 months off it was good to knock some rust off.”

With 46 cars checked in on Saturday night, Placerville Speedway opted to use the Sprint Car Challenge Tour format. Earning quick time honors in his qualifying group, the Mather, CA driver finished fifth in his heat aboard the McColloch’s RV Repair/Davis Truck Paining/ART Speed Equipment backed No. 17 machine.

By way of his qualifying time, Henry would earn a berth into the Dash, where an eighth place finish lined him up on the outside of the fourth row for the 30-lap feature event.

Friday night rain made for an interesting track surface that offered competitors a little bit of everything. When the green lights flashed on Henry would battle for position inside the Top-10 against a very talent heavy field.

Tough to make any serious headway, Henry would continue to search around the bullring as he maintained the 10thposition.

As the laps clicked away, Henry would notice his engine temperature starting to rise. While running 10th with just three-laps left in the race, Henry made the decision to call it a night and pulled off as the temperature had continued to climb.

“We had really good speed on Saturday, and made a lot of gains,” Henry added. “I am pretty confident we can be even better the next time out, and I am really looking forward to running more with Nick and Kerry McColloch as the season plays out.”

McColloch Motorsports would like to thank McColloch’s RV Repair, Davis Truck Paining, ART Speed Equipment, RE Technologies, Hansen Machine, and Gary Morgan Graphics for their continued support.

ON TAP: McColloch Motorsports is unsure when their next race will be at time of press.
