2021 King of the West Campaign Kicked off For Kyle Offill

PETERSEN MEDIA: 2020 was supposed to be the year Kyle Offill made his first full run with the King of the West Series. With shutdown and mandates hampering any racing in CA for much of the season, Offill was able to do some traveling and hone his craft in preparations for the 2021 season. Saturday night, Kyle Offill was finally able to kick off his first full season with the traveling series, unfortunately a late engine issue would sour the night.

“Unfortunately, I kind of missed the lines in time trials as the track was extremely slick and really tricky,” Offill said. “In the heat race, we were able to pick up a couple of spots and that helped us on our main event starting position.”

With 23 cars on hand for the highly anticipated KWS season opener, Offill timed the Country Builders Construction/Ochoco West Lumber/Reliable Lumber backed No. 88 mount in 20th fastest on what was a very slick Stockton Dirt Track surface.

Lining up at the tail end of his heat race, the Tracy, CA driver would make a couple of big moves and pick up a couple of important positions. Working his way up to fifth, Offill would line up 16th on the starting grid for the 30-lap feature event.

Track prep would take place a little before the feature event rolled onto the speedway, and the surface would have a little more grip and offer drivers a few different lines.

Spending much of the night battling in the Top-15, Offill would find himself racing wheel to wheel with the likes of Blake Carrick, Willie Croft, and Mitchell Moles as they all fought hard on the 3/8 miles track.

Trouble would strike Offill with just six laps left in the race as an engine would expire under the hood of his machine and bring his opener to an end.

“It was nice to get our 410ci season started in CA,” Offill said. “It wasn’t that great of a night, but it’s a starting point that we can learn from. Thanks to Brandon, Alex, and everyone who helped us out all night long.”

Kyle Offill would like to thank Country Builders, Ochoco West Lumber, Reliable Lumber, Boise Cascade, Inc., B rown and Miller, MAAS Brothers Powder Coating, Offill Family Farms, Tool Tech Construction Supply, HRP, FK Shocks, A.R.T. Enterprise, Hinchman Racewear, Maxim Chassis, and B. Scadden Design for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races: 6, Wins: 0, Top 5’s: 0, Top 10’s: 1

ON TAP: Offill and is off this weekend, and is unsure where his next race will be at the time of press.
