2021 To Mark Final Year for Andy Gregg’s GUTS Racing No. 16x

PETERSEN MEDIA: After 20 years of acting as the owner/driver of the GUTS Racing No. 16x, 2021 will mark the 21st and final year the familiar car races in Northern CA as Andy Gregg plans to scale back racing in his future in the seasons to follow.

“It has been a really awesome and rewarding ride and this season I would love nothing more than to put on a show for the fans that cheer for me and against me,” Andy Gregg said with a smile. “Our sport is so driven by fans, that in what will be the final year of the GUTS 16x, I want to dedicate it to the fans, and with fans slowly being allowed back into our races, it is my hope that I can race in front of some familiar faces in this car a few more times.”

While Gregg will end his tenure as an owner with the completion on the 2021 season, he isn’t necessarily done with racing all together. The Diamond Springs, CA native still hopes to run on a limited basis for the years to come.

“With our family growing, and our business, GUTS, growing, it really is hard to commit to a full-time racing schedule as I have done for so long,” Gregg added. “My kids are into sports, we love to get out of town, so moving away from our family team will allow us to have the best of both worlds.”

Heading into the 2021 season, the all-time Track Record holder at Placerville Speedway does have some notable accolades on his resume including the 2001 Rookie of the Year award at Placerville Speedway to get things rolling.

Gregg boasts 11 career feature event wins at his home track Placerville Speedway putting him in a tie for 16th on the all-time wins list with Kyle Hirst. Of those 11 wins one of them came during the track’s crowned jewel event, the Mark Forni Classic.

Gregg also has 5 career Civil War Series wins to his credit, putting him 16th on that All Time wins list as well to go along with 1 King of the West feature event win. Gregg was also the 2004 KWS Rookie of the Year. He also has four career feature event wins at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA, three wins at Marysville Raceway, and scores at Stockton Dirt Track, and Southern Oregon Speedway in Medford, OR.

A couple of national highlights for Gregg include a podium run at the Gold Cup Race of Champions with the World of Outlaws in 2011, as well as the ‘Rookie of the Year’ award at the Knoxville Nationals in 2014.

Winning various races over his career, Gregg still is in search of a 410ci win at his home track of Placerville Speedway, something he will aim to add to his resume in 2021.

“We have been close to a 410ci win at Placerville Speedway a few times, and that is something I would love to accomplish in 2021,” Gregg noted. “That would be something really cool to get done in our final year in the 16x.”

With the final season of the GUTS Racing No. 16x slated to kick off Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, Gregg invites all fans to stop by his pit area and share some memories after the opener and all season long. Be on the lookout for a final GUTS Racing T Shirt in 2021, as well as a final hand out card.

Andy would like to thank GUTS, LAL Motorsports, Crane Inspection Agency, Meyers and Son Drywall, Nail it Roofing, CTL Forest Management, ARP Enterprises, Ervin Sales, Aaron Dosh Attorney at Law, Ice House Resort, Triple X, Wilwood, FK Shocks, FK Rod Ends, K&N, King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, Amerikote, Pony Express Service, Eagle Grit, Sierra Ice, Ford’s Only, MF Inc., and Gilly’s Radiator for their support.
