(PETERSEN MEDIA- Aptos, CA)- Saturday night at the Stockton Dirt Track, the 25th Civil War Series presented by Flowmaster Season will come to a close at the Stockton Dirt Track, and heading into the season finale three drivers will be gunning for the series crown as they are all separated by just 10-points.
Though by looking at the Prentice Motorsports Group website it looks as if Justin Sanders is the clear point leader by a landslide, a new rule in 2015 has allowed competitors the opportunity to throw out their lowest point total, and Andy Forsberg leads the series into the Stockton Dirt Track with a 10 point lead over Justin Sanders and 2014 Series Champion, Shane Golobic.
Forsberg comes into the Championship Spectacular season finale gunning for his eighth series title and first since 2012 as he has had a superb season aboard the C&M Motorsports No. 7c entry. Forsberg has found Civil War victory lane on a pair of occasions in 2015 as he captured the Mel Hall Memorial and the Johnny Key Classic, and comes into this event riding high after a Fall Nationals triumph in Chico, CA back in October.
Entering Saturday night’s finale as the Civil War Series’ most recent feature event winner, Shane Golobic used a victory at the Petaluma Speedway on September 26th to tighten the point battle up. Looking to become the series’ first repeat champion since Forsberg ripped off three-in-a-row spanning from 2010-2012, Golobic will look for continued success at the ultra fast Stockton Dirt Track on Saturday night as he was a feature event winner at the track during the 2014 season finale with the King of the West Series.
Justin Sanders has had a 2015 season for the record books. To date, Sanders has picked up 20 A Main event wins and two track championships and is in search of his first ever Civil War Series presented by Flowmaster crown. One of Sanders’ 20-wins came with the series back in July when he picked up the Howard Kaeding Classic at the Ocean Speedway. In 2013, Sanders was a part of another three-horse race for the series crown heading into the last race of the season and is eager to put an exclamation point on an extraordinary season on Saturday night.
The Civil War Series Presented by Flowmaster portion of the 32nd Annual Tribute To Gary Patterson should be another extremely tough show with a strong field of competitors expected to be on hand. Aside from the three championship contenders Koen Shaw, Sean Becker, Bradley Terrell, Kyle Hirst, Jonathan Allard, Cory Eliason, Colby Copeland, Matt Peterson, Kurt Nelson, Justyn Cox, Geoff Ensign, Â and a host of other top drivers from the West Coast are expected to be on hand as the series runs alongside the King of the West Series in what should be the most exciting nights of racing of th year.
