PETERSEN MEDIA- Over the weekend, Aaron Reutzel got his Rookie campaign with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series underway as he picked up a sixth-place finish during Friday night’s opener before charging from 25th to 10th during Sunday’s feature.
“We are getting really close to where we want to be,” Aaron Reutzel said. “We just have to find a little more consistency, but I’m still happy with how things have gone so far in these first few races.”
While the first two nights of the DIRTCar Nationals and Volusia Speedway Park ran under All Star Circuit of Champions sanction, Reutzel and Roth Motorsports would take advantage of the final two ‘preseason’ races of the season as the team picked up 12th and 16th place finishes.
Looking to get his first crack at the full World of Outlaws season started off on a good note, Reutzel came out strong as he timed the Roth Enterprises/Jason, Tara, and Cole Roth Cattle Co./HR Livestock Transportation backed No. 83 entry in third fastest in time trials.
Lining up on the pole of his heat race, Reutzel would cash in on the prime starting position as he would pick up the win and transfer into the DirtVision Fast Pass Dash, as well as into the feature event.
After finishing eighth in the Dash, the Clute, TX driver would take the green flag from outside of the fourth row for the first WoO feature event of the 2021 season. Keeping his machine inside the Top-10 for the duration of the race, Reutzel would battle with the likes of Carson Macedo and Jacob Allen for a spot in the Top-Five. When the checkered flew on the first feature of the year, Reutzel would come home with a sixth-place finish.
Saturday night saw Mother Nature have her way with the event as showers cancelled the event just prior to heat race action, and that would turn the attention to Sunday’s afternoon program to close up the DIRTCar Nationals.
Going out towards the end of time trials, Reutzel would time in 28th fastest before finishing seventh in his heat race.
Moving into the Last Chance Showdown, Reutzel and the Roth Motorsports team would finish seventh and just narrowly miss out on the transfer into the feature event, however the team would utilize a Provisional and grid the field from the 25th starting position.
On the slick ½ mile, Reutzel would slowly work his way forward only to be involved in a multi car accident just prior to the race’s halfway point.
Able to restart form the tail of the field again, Reutzel would go to work and do a great job of carving his way forward. Able to salvage his feature event, Reutzel earned KSE Racing Hard Charger Honors as he took the checkered with a 10th place finish after advancing 15th spots from the start of the race.
“Again, I really want to thank Dennis and Teresa Roth for giving us the tools we need,” Reutzel said. “Looking forward to getting back after it again soon.”
The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, Jason, Tara, and Cole Roth Cattle Co., HR Livestock Transportation, Roth Investments, Southern Pacific Farms, All Star Performance, FK Rod Ends, Vahlco Wheels, Triple X Race Co., AL Drive Lines, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Wings Unlimited, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, Smith Titanium, and Team Simpson for their support in 2021.
ON TAP: With weather already cancelling this weekend’s two scheduled events, Reutzel and Roth Motorsports will return to action on February 19th at Magnolia Motor Speedway, and Saturday February 20th at The Rev.
