PETERSEN MEDIA- A year to remember for young Aiden Larimer came to a close on Sunday as the Merced, CA driver picked up his 10th win of the season as he hoisted the custom eagle trophy following his West Coast Nationals win.
For Larimer, the big win ended his season with 10 feature event wins giving him the second most wins ever at the track in the beginner box stock division.
The three-day season ending extravaganza kicked off on Friday with Larimer earning quick time honors aboard the Cornaggia Farms/Stone Motorsports/Mark Sutton Construction backed No. 5 machine.
Pulling the five pill for the inversion, Larimer would line up fifth in the Fast Dash before racing to the win and really putting himself in a great spot for the rest of the weekend.
Saturday saw two more cars join the field and Larimer still flexed his muscles as he timed in second quickest on this day with 33 cars checked into the pit area in his division.
Lining up eighth in his first heat race, Larimer would put the field on notice, as he was able to charge forward and grab the win. Lining up eighth in his second heat by way of winning his first one, Larimer again would dazzle the crowd as he charged his way forward and again grabbed the win.
Sitting second in points, Larimer would advance into the Top-Eight pole shuffle where his win would put him on the pole for Sunday’s West Coast Nationals feature event.
The 30-lap affair came to life and Larimer would bide his time as he rode around in the second position in the early laps. Lap 10 saw the youngster from Merced, CA make his move and assume the race lead.
Once out in front, Larimer would not be seriously challenged. Turning in strong laps, Larimer would capture the biggest win of the year as he captured his first West Coast Nationals feature event win.
