PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to the seat of the Dunkel Logistics No. 11D on Saturday night to take part in the Sixth Annual Adobe Cup in Petaluma, CA, Jonathan Allard would pick up a hard fought 10th place finish after racing most of the feature with a flat tire.
“I have to thank Matt, Wood, and everyone associated with this team for another chance to go racing,” Jonathan Allard said. “We were fast all night, but unfortunately we got an early flat and I had to really be smart on how I worked around the track.”
With 30 cars checked into the pit area on Saturday night, Allard would get off to a nice start as he timed in fifth quickest in qualifying time trials, which lined him up on the inside of the second row in the first heat.
Needing to win to earn a spot in the nightly Dash, Allard finish third which still moved him into the 30-lap, $5200 to win feature event.
Gridding the field from the 13th starting spot, Allard would end up taking the green flag from 11th as the front row would have issues on the first two start attempts. Feeling a tire going down as the race came to life, Allard would jump into the 10th spot as he battled with drivers like Jake Haulot and Bradley Terrell.
With the race’s only caution coming at the halfway point, Allard would continue to hold his own inside the Top-10. With the laps continuing to click off at a rapid pace, traffic would soon become an issue. Finding himself racing with a hard charging duo of Sean Becker and Ryan Bernal, Allard would ultimately take the checkered flag with a 10th place finish.
“I think we were a little better than a 10th place car, but it is still cool to get another Top-10 with this team,” Allard said. “Again, I really want to thank everyone involved for making it possible to get another race in before Trophy Cup.”
