PETERSEN MEDIA- A week after mechanical failure knocked him out of action at the WXC Speedway, Chico, CA driver, Jonathan Allard, was back in fine form over the weekend as he scored a second place finish.
“We were fast again, but came up just short,” Allard said. “I have to thank everyone who helped us get back to the track after our issues a week ago.”
Lining up sixth in his first heat race, Allard was on kill early in the night, as he clawed his way through the field, before getting by race leader, Daniel Rogers, to pick up the win in dramatic fashion.
Lining up in the second row of his second heat, Allard quickly got into the second spot, as he rode the rough cushion to a second place finish, giving him top points on the night.
Finding himself with the four inversion pill for the third race in a row, Allard lined his Porter Group/Hydraulink/Motul No. 0 machine up in the second row, and quickly moved into the third spot when the green flag dropped.
With Michael Pickens out front, Allard began to work on second running, Dean Brindle, as he searched all over the speedway for a way to get by.
Getting into lapped traffic late in the race, Allard was able to use his veteran savvy to get by Brindle, as he took over the second spot, and set his sights on the leader.
With not many laps to work with one in the second spot, Allard would make things exciting, but would come up just short, as he crossed the stripe in the second position.
“Congratulations to Pickens and his team on earning the win,” Allard said. “It is great to be up here again, and hopefully next weekend we can get a spot better a celebrate another win.”
Allard would like to thank Porter Group, Hydraulink, Motul, New Zealand Ceiling and Drywall Supplies, Exide, and BDR Max for their support.
2014 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-65, Wins-13, Top 5’s-31, Top 10’s-43.
ON TAP: Allard will be back in action on Saturday night at WXC Speedway on Saturday night as he teams up with Kraig Kinser for the Porter Hire Series as he takes on the likes of Robbie Farr, James McFadden, Dean Brindle, Jamie Duff, and more.
