PETERSEN MEDIA- A busy week of racing in Northern California saw Jonathan Allard record a pair of Top-10 finishes, including one with the World of Outlaws on Sunday night in Antioch, CA.
“We came into Gold Cup week looking to make some noise like we did last year, but unfortunately we had a couple of things hamper us,” Allard explained.
Kicking the week off Wednesday night, a heat race incident would leave Allard sidelined and forced to run the night’s B Main event. While getting ready for the B, Allard would have issues and slam into the turn four wall before the green flag dropped, but by rule, he was able to take his starting spot back on the front row.
Picking up a third place finish, Allard would move into the A Main, where he would line up in the 19th spot on a track that was on the verge of taking rubber. Though the rubber would go down early in the race, Allard did all he could to move forward as he was one of the only drivers to make headway in the race. When the checkered flag flew, ‘JA’ had raced his way into the 10th spot.
Friday and Saturday saw Allard and his Tri-C Motorsports team battle with the World of Outlaws. Timing the Tri-C Manufacturing/ButlerBuilt/Amerikote No. 3c entry in 11th fastest, the Chico, CA pilot would advance from sixth to third in his heat race, and make the big show.
Rolling off from the 17th starting spot, Allard would make some more headway as he battled with Sean Becker and Daryn Pittman en route to a 13th place finish.
Saturday night, Allard would time his King Racing Products/BR Motorsports/Red Line Oil backed machine in sixth fastest, and line up on the front row of his heat race.
In a prime spot to earn a berth in the Dash, Allard would get the jump, but officials deemed he was early on the throttle, and he would be penalized a row. The next start saw Allard race his way up to the second spot, where he would finish, and transfer to the 40-lap A Main event.
From his 13th starting spot, Allard would gain a few positions, until trouble hit on the 16th lap as he had help getting up over the banking. Able to restart, Allard would close the Gold Cup up with a 19th place finish.
Sunday night, Allard busy week of racing would come to a close at the Antioch Speedway. After timing in 18th fastest, Allard’s sixth place finish in his heat race would transfer him into the feature event.
On an extremely slick Antioch Speedway surface, ‘JA’ would have his elbows up as he marched his way forward. Working all around the unique configuration, Allard would make his way into the 10th spot, as the checkered waived on the night.
“After the success we had at the 2014 Gold Cup, we were looking to duplicate that over the last week,” Allard said. “We had some good speed, but we couldn’t seem to put an entire night together.”
Allard would like to thank Tri-C Manufacturing, K&N, ButlerBuilt, Amerikote, King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, Red Line Oil, KSE Racing Products, Weld Wheels, NGK Spark Plugs, FK Rod Ends, Hunt Magnetos, Longacre Products, RCM Design, Ti64, A.R.T. Speed Equipment, AL Driveline, and Hoosier Tire for their support.
2015 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-53, Wins-10, Top 5’s-26, Top 10’s-34.
ON TAP: Allard and his Tri-C Motorsports team will be back in action this weekend in Hanford, CA.
