Allard Scores First Win of Season On US Soil
PETERSEN MEDIA- Slowly getting things going in the right direction in 2015, Jonathan Allard and his Tri-C Motorsports team picked up their first win of the season on Friday night after a spirited battle for the race’s top spot.
“I have to thank all of these guys for their hard work,” Allard said. “We are a good race team, and hopefully this can spring board us to some more victories.”
Timing in fourth fastest during qualifying time trials, the Chico, CA native would then run second in his heat race, and solidify himself a spot in the night’s redraw, where the three pill would put him in the second row for the 25-lap feature event.
A couple of early cautions in the race would let Allard get to early race leader, Andy Forsberg’s rear bumper, as he stalked him early, until making his move on the 10th lap.
Getting into the lead exiting turn two, Allard would take command of the race, though he would quickly have his hands full with lapped traffic. Avoiding disaster on a handful of occasions, Allard would pick up his first win of the season in the USA, as it also marked his 56th career triumph at the track he calls home, putting him in a tie for second all time at the speedway, with Tim Kaeding.
Making the trip to the Petaluma Speedway on Saturday night for another round of King of the West action, Allard would carry some momentum over with him during the early stages of the night as he timed in sixth fastest in time trials.
From his second row starting position, ‘JA’ would finish in the third spot, before picking up the dash win, and starting on the pole of the 30-lap feature event. As the race came to life, Allard and Bud Kaeding would battle for the top spot. Falling into the second spot in the early stages, Allard’s machine would come up lame on the 10th circuit, and his night would unfortunately come a close prematurely.
“It was a bummer to have some mechanical issues on Saturday night,” Allard explained. “We had a really good night going, and I think we were going to have a good race with the Zero car, but our night came to a close early.”
