PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to action over the weekend for a pair of events, Jonathan Allard scored a second place finish at the Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday night, before rebounding to finish ninth with the King of the West Series on Saturday night after an early accident.
“It is still a work in progress, but we continue to make gains,” Allard said.
Friday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway, Allard got his night started off quickly, as he timed the Tri-C Manufacturing/K&N/ButlerBuilt in third fastest, before working his way up to the second spot in heat race action.
Lining up in the second row of the main event, Allard settled into the fourth spot, as he chased after Sean Becker for the third spot. Working the high side of the speedway, Allard was able to get by Becker for third, and go after the lead duo of Keith Bloom and Tanner Thorson.
Relentless on the cushion, Allard would get by Bloom as he then went after Tanner Thorson. On a couple of occasions, Allard would pull up alongside Thorson, but could just not get by, and would settle for second at the stripe.
Saturday night, Allard and his team would head to the Placerville Speedway for the first full points King of the West show.
31 cars were on hand for the event, and Allard got his night started off by timing in 16th fastest before finishing third in his heat race.
Lining up 15th in the feature event, Allard would run into issues early, as he was involved in an early wreck. Making as many repairs his team could, Allard would rejoin the field with a battered machine, and work his way back forward.
Taking advantage of what was a wild feature at times, Allard would end his night with a ninth place finish.
