Andy Forsberg 2nd at Marysville Raceway

PETERSEN MEDIA- Scheduled to open Placerville Speedway’s season up on Saturday night, saturated grounds led to the race being cancelled and forced Andy Forsberg and F&F Racing to head to Marysville Raceway where they would pick up a second place finish.

“Saturday night we were pretty good all night,” Andy Forsberg said. “The track went away super quick so we didn’t get timed in the best, and then Jimmy Wall pulled the eighth for us and made things that much more challenging.”

A total of 21 sprint cars checked in at Marysville Raceway for the tracks’ second points paying event of the 2021 season. On an extremely slick surface, Forsberg would time the C&H Motor Parts/Bushey Financial Services/PitStopUSA backed No. x1 machine in ninth fastest in time trials.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, the Auburn, CA driver was hard on the throttle as he jumped out to the early lead. Needing to pick up the win to earn a place in the draw, Forsberg would do just that before the eight-pill placed him in the fourth row to start the feature.

When the race came to life, Forsberg would bide his time as he worked his way to the front of the field. Cracking the Top-5 on the fourth lap, Forsberg would take over the fourth position a lap later as the field continued to fight for the moisture on the low groove.

On the race’s seventh circuit ‘Mr. Excitement’ overtook the final spot on the podium and then was able to take the second position as the cross flags were displayed to the field.

Once in second, Forsberg would apply heavy pressure on race leader, Kaleb Montgomery, but Montgomery would not budge on this night. Able to get next to the leader on a few occasions, Forsberg simply could not get in front of him and took the checkered flag with a second place finish.

“We started eight, and did a really good job of working our way forward and getting into second,” Forsberg said. “Kaleb Montgomery ran a really strong race and we didn’t have anything to get by him. Congrats to those guys on their win, and we will look forward to Saturday’s SCCT opener at Placerville Speedway.”

F&F Racing and Andy Forsberg would like to thank C&H Motor Parts, Bushey Financial Services, PitStopUSA, Geico Local Office, Econo Lube-n-Tune & Brakes, Lucas Oil, Pacific Highway Rentals, Autism Awareness, CRV Carbon Solutions, All Pro Heads, and Engler for their support in 2021.

ON TAP: F&F Racing will now kick the 2021 SCCT season off at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-4, Wins-1, Top 5’s-3, Top 10’s-4.
