PETERSEN MEDIA- Bouncing back from engine issues at Merced Speedway one week ago, Andy Forsberg and F&F Racing came back strong as they picked up a fifth place finish on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway.
“It was a cool night of racing with the Legends Night deal going on,” Forsberg said. “On the track we overcame Jimmy Wall’s 8-pill draw was got up to fourth, but then a restart kind of changed things, and we went backwards but still managed to get back up to fifth.”
Earning quick time honors aboard the Econo Lube-n-Tune & Brakes/Geico Local Office/PitStopUSA backed No. x1 machine, Forsberg would simply get through his heat race as his third place finish locked him into the draw.
Finding the eight pill in the redraw, the Auburn, CA pilot would take the green flag from the fourth row to start the 25-lap affair as he looked to pick up his third consecutive win at the ¼ mile bullring.
Working his way up to fourth, a restart would see Forsberg forced up the hill in turns three and four and off the racing surface. Though he was able to keep his machine out of harms way, Forsberg would give up a ton of track position as he fell all the way back to 10th.
Despite being mired in traffic, the grizzled veteran would go back to work on picking up lost track position as he would get back into the Top-5.
Chasing after Andy Gregg and Sean Becker in the closing stanzas, Forsberg would fend off Justin Sanders to pocket a fifth place finish at the line.
“It was an eventful night, but these F&F guys keep working hard,’ Forsberg said. “Looking forward to another night of racing with them on Saturday back up on the hill.”
