Andy Forsberg Back on Sprint Car Challenge Tour Podium

PETERSEN MEDIA: Putting a turbulent Bradway Memorial weekend behind him, Andy Forsberg was back up front on Saturday night with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour as he scored a third-place finish at Petaluma Speedway.

“After a tough weekend last week, we were solid from start to finish on Saturday night,” Andy Forsberg said. “The track was really racy, our feature got a little wild, but we came away with a podium.”

With 23 cars making the trip to California’s bay area, Forsberg kicked the night off by timing the PHR Racing No. 92 in fourth fastest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, Forsberg was hard on the throttle when the green flag waived as he jumped to the early lead aboard his Meridian Cameras/Oroville Tax/Wilkie Masonry backed entry.

Picking up the heat race win, the Auburn, CA driver qualified for the High Sierra Industries Dash, where the three put him in the third row for the six lap shootout.

Holding the spot, Forsberg’s third place finish in the Dash lined him up in the second row of the 35-lap feature event. On a relatively racy surface, Forsberg slipped back to fourth when the race came to life as Justin Sanders got by him for third in the opening stages of the race.

A lap seven issue for race leader, Michael Faccinto put Forsberg into third for an impending restart, and when the action resumed he was able to jump into second.

Once in second, Forsberg chased after leader Justin Sanders, but Sanders was able to power away and open up a gap over Forsberg until the red flag was needed as a car got upside down and created fence damage.

Slipping back to third once the action resumed, Forsberg continued to chase after Sanders and the new runner up, Kaleb Montgomery as he soon felt pressure from fourth running, Sean Becker.

Able to hold the final spot on the podium when the checkered flag flew, Forsberg capped the night off with a third place finish.

Andy Forsberg and PHR Racing would like to thank Meridian Cameras, Pacific Highway Rentals, Oroville Tax, Wilkie Masonry, Western Traffic Supply, PitStopUSA, Red Line Oil, FK Rod Ends, Autism Awareness, Parking and Transportation Group, Western Featherlite, 1st Vanguard, Highway Specialty Co., and KBJ Catering for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races-15, Wins-1, Top 5’s-6, Top 10’s-7
