Andy Forsberg Charges to 2nd at Spooktacular in Marysville, CA

PETERSEN MEDIA: Returning to racing action on Saturday night, Andy Forsberg checked in at Marysville Raceway for the track’s Spooktacular event where he charged from 9th to 2nd in the 25-lap feature event.

“Race wise we were okay,” Andy Forsberg said. “We went out late in time trials and ended up fifth fastest, but that put us in a tough spot to have a shot at the redraw. Things didn’t go our way on that end, and we ended up going from ninth to second in the feature.”

With 28 cars checked in for Marysville Raceway’s Paul Hawes Tribute also dubbed as the Spooktacular, Forsberg went out late in time trials, and timed the Meridian Cameras/Pacific Highway Rentals/Wilkie Masonry backed No. 92 in fifth fastest in time trials.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Forsberg worked his way to second as chased after Billy Wallace. Unable to get by Wallace, Forsberg finished second and needed to wait to see if any of the top-four fastest qualifiers failed to transfer through their heat in order to put him in the redraw.

With no such luck, Forsberg took the green flag for the 25-lap feature event from the ninth starting spot. With the track fast and tricky, Forsberg went to work as he slowly raced his way to the front.

Getting up to fifth by the eighth lap, Forsberg continued to work hard as he was in fourth at the race’s halfway point. Racing into third on the 15th lap, he was in second on the 17th lap and had just eight laps to reel in race leader, Sean Becker.

Cutting into Becker’s lead, Forsberg took a big chunk out of Becker’s advantage over the final two laps, but it wasn’t enough as he capped his night off with a second-place finish.

“We gave it our best effort coming from ninth, and we came up just a little short,” Forsberg added.

Andy Forsberg and PHR Racing would like to thank Meridian Cameras, Pacific Highway Rentals, Wilkie Masonry, PitStopUSA, Red Line Oil, Autism Awareness, Parking and Transportation Group, Western Featherlite, GP Development, 1st Vanguard, Highway Specialty Co., and KBJ Catering for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races-36, Wins-4, Top 5’s-15, Top 10’s-19

ON TAP: Forsberg returns to action on Saturday night as he travels to Stockton, CA to take part in the Sprint Car Challenge Tour season finale.
